A breezy, chilly, dry & much quieter day across the state. Highs only reaching the 50s & 60s under mostly sunny/partly sunny skies. NW winds will be breezy through the afternoon across eastern Nebraska.
A well below average day for high temperatures. The warmest spots will occur in SW Nebraska. Highs ranging from the 50s to upper 60s.
SEVERE STORM REPORTS MONDAY- MAY 18, 2026:
-5 tornado reports were recorded across Jefferson, Gage, Pawnee, and Richardson counties. A brief cone tornado touched down near Odell, NE around 2:48 PM.
The Pawnee City tornado most likely producer EF-2+ damage as it moved east towards Falls City Monday evening. The supercell ingested a small storm ahead of it, meaning the main storm was quite intense!
The strongest wind gust was estimated near 90 mph around Nemaha, NE. There were 13 wind reports from Beatrice to Auburn, NE.
The largest hail reported was golf ball size — over 1.75″ in diameter. More than 40 hail reports were received from Beatrice to Sioux City.
A much cooler rest of the week with rain/storm chances Thursday into Friday. A warm and pleasant weekend. We heat up Memorial Day with increasing moisture chances!
