LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — The Lincoln Transportation and Utilities Department is looking for volunteers to help clean up Holmes Lake Park on May 26.

The cleanup event is scheduled from 10 a.m. to noon and is part of Keep America Beautiful’s Great American Cleanup.

“The Great American Cleanup at Holmes Lake is an opportunity for the Lincoln community to join together to keep our parks beautiful,” said Erin Kubicek, Environmental Health Educator. “Volunteers play an important role in our work to combat litter, pollution, and protect the environment and aquatic life.”

LTU said volunteers should meet at Shelter 1, adjacent to Parking Lot 4, at the north end of the park. A free lunch will be provided to volunteers.

For more information on the park cleanup or to register as a volunteer, visit LTU’s website. You can also call the storm cleanup coordinator at 402-441-4959.
