Severe Storm Chances Return Friday Evening

The risk of flooding continues for southeast Nebraska into the overnight hours after several rounds of showers and thunderstorms moved through on Thursday. A Flood Watch remains in effect until 4 a.m. CDT on Friday, June 5.

Chances for showers will come to a close on Thursday evening before another round of severe weather is possible on Friday. Above is the latest run of Stormcast showing the potential for storms late Friday into early Saturday.

Chances for severe weather in southeast Nebraska increase late Friday afternoon and will continue into the overnight hours. A Slight Risk (Level 2 out of 5) of severe weather is in place, meaning scattered severe storms will be possible.

All severe hazards will be possible in the strongest storms on Friday. A tornado or two, hail upwards of two inches in diameter, and damaging wind gusts are all on the table.

Df Forecast Lows Statewide

Temperatures will be seasonally mild tonight in southeast Nebraska with lows falling to the middle 60s. Better chances for the 50s will be in central and western Nebraska.

After chances for showers wrap up early this evening in Lincoln, overcast skies are expected heading into Friday morning.

It will be hot and humid on Friday across the state. Highs will approach the upper 80s and lower 90s with dew points expected in the 70s.

We will see clouds early in the day on Friday, with more sunshine possible for the Capital City by the afternoon. Chances for showers and thunderstorms will hold out until Friday evening.

This weekend will be a bit of a rollercoaster in terms of temperatures, bouncing between the lower 80s and lower 90s. Chances for showers and thunderstorms return on Sunday ahead of a very warm work week. Heat index values will approach the triple digits by the middle of next week.
