Havelock Avenue Bridge Grand Reopening

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – On June 30, the Lancaster County Engineering Department (LCED) had the grand reopening of the bridge on Havelock Avenue. The bridge had been closed since April 27.

“We’re hopeful that the repairs to this bridge will last us another 20 years,” said Pam Dingman, Lancaster County engineer. “What we want to do is get this bridge to last as long as we can.”

The repairs were made to the bridge deck surface and a portion of the underlying concrete structure.

According to the LCED, the construction consisted of chipping out damaged concrete so that, when fresh concrete was put down, the surface was even.

Construction was able to complete the project by their Jun 30 deadline. Dingman said they wanted to get the project done last year but, with financial problems, had to push back the deadline to this year.
