Quiet, Hot Start to the Week

Temperatures slowly climb with a quiet couple of days to start the work week. Chances for storms look to hold off until Wednesday in southeast Nebraska, though temperatures will return to the 90s.

The latest run of StormCast shows a quiet and sunny day ahead on Monday.

Lows will be close to average in the east, dropping off a couple of degrees as you head west.

Mostly clear skies this evening in Lincoln will carry over into a calm start to the work week on Monday.

Summer-like heat is expected to continue across the state, coming off the holiday weekend. Highs will reach the 90s for most on Monday afternoon.

We may see a few fair-weather clouds by Monday afternoon with light winds alongside heat and humidity throughout the day in the Capital City.

Be sure to drink plenty of water and regularly apply sunscreen if you are spending extensive time outdoors on Monday.

Chances for severe weather hold off until Tuesday evening, when an isolated severe storm or two will be possible for northern Nebraska and the panhandle.

We get our own shot at showers and storms on Wednesday into Thursday in southeast Nebraska. Another disturbance may try to move through heading into next weekend, though forecast clarity is a little lower at this time. Long-term models are hinting at another hot stretch towards the middle of the month; summer is far from over!
