PAPILLION, Neb. (KLKN) — Amazon announced yesterday that Prime Air is coming to Papillion. The Amazon Fulfillment Center will use Amazon’s drone delivery service starting later this summer.

Prime Air can deliver packages five pounds or less within a 7.5-mile radius of the fulfillment center.

The drones are 5’x5′, autonomous and full electric. They will fly at an altitude between 150-300 feet going at speeds up to 70 mph.

No fragile items are allowed because the packages are dropped from 12 feet in the location of the customer’s choosing.

12 drones will be in Papillion starting later this summer. The new drones are said to make deliveries in Papillion in as little as two hours or less.

The new initiative adds 30 new jobs.
