UPDATE: Mother of teen injured in rollover crash says it was caused by road rage

The mother of a girl 17-year-old girl involved in a rollover crash in north Lincoln Monday afternoon says the crash may have been the result of a road rage incident.
The crash happened around 1:30 p.m., when a car struck a curb, an electrical box, a light pole, a bush, before rolling and smashing into a garage near 42nd and Vine Street.
The teen driver told police she was involved in a ‘road rage incident’ with another vehicle that she cut off near 48th and Vine Street, according to an accident report. The other vehicle, a white Toyota, kept engaging the girl as she drove, according to the report. At one point, the girl overcorrected and lost control, causing the crash.
“The driver of this little white car then basically committed road rage,” the girl’s mother, Jackie Mudge, told Channel 8 Eyewitness News.
Mudge said the driver of the Toyota swerved in front of her daughter’s car and brake, not allowing her to change lanes. She said her daughter was covered in blood and had pieces of glass all over her body.
“I’m picking it out of her hair, her back, out of everything,” she said. “She’s scared.”
The girl was taken to the hospital after being extricated from her car. She was not issued a citation.
Lincoln Fire and Rescue officials said there were concerns about the home’s structural integrity, and a support beam was brought in to help support to the garage. Estimated damage to the home is around $50,000, according to the accident report.
Lincoln Police are encouraging anyone with information about the crash to call them.
