EXTREME Heat Before Cooler Air
A HOT, mostly sunny & muggy day across Nebraska. Heat index values ranging from 103° – 110°! A HEAT ADVISORY is in effect until 10pm tonight.
High temperatures statewide ranging from 97° – 105°. The hottest temperatures farther west due to drier air. A cold front moves in tonight, bringing cooler air into Tuesday!
A few isolated storms from 5-10pm mainly north of I-80 ahead of the cold front.
Tuesday morning, a few light showers could occur across SE Nebraska.
Tuesday morning’s cold front will shift winds to the north, bringing in Canadian wildfire smoke. Air quality could become moderate through Tuesday afternoon.
Wednesday afternoon brings widespread rain from northwest to southeast. No severe weather is expected, but beneficial rainfall is likely!
Rainfall potential through Wednesday evening brings 1″-2.5″ out west with lesser amounts farther SE. Thursday will bring most of the rain in southeast Nebraska.
The HOTTEST day comes this afternoon with highs in the triple digits. Tuesday brings some cooler temperatures and wildfire smoke. Wednesday-Friday will bring much cooler air with rain chances increasing from NW to SE. Next week brings another summer heat wave!
