EPSCoR awarded $10 million for STEM in Nebraska

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — The University of Nebraska’s Established Program to Stimulate Competitive Research (EPSCoR) received a grant for support of Nebraska’s STEM. The grant, awarded from the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF), is a four-year, $10 million award.

A new project, the Nebraska Strengthening Partnerships for Innovation, Research and Education (NSPIRE), strengthens Nebraska’s research and innovations.

“The NSF award recognizes the importance of collaboration in driving innovation,” said Jeffrey P. Gold, M.D., president of the University of Nebraska System. “The NSPIRE project will strengthen connections between research, education and community engagement while expanding opportunities for our students, communities and state.” 

The grant will go towards Nebraska’s EPSCoR programs. The programs focus on advancing research capacity and competitiveness, investing in workforce development and nurturing partnerships in the STEM field.
