Nebraska Snapshot shows Nebraskans response to the rise of AI

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL) released a new study using the new Nebraska Snapshot. The study follows Nebraska’s response to and awareness of artificial intelligence (AI).

Nebraska Snapshot, a new series published by UNL’s Bureau of Sociological Research, shows that nearly half (47%) of Nebraskans said they have not heard or read a lot about AI.

According to Nebraska Snapshot, more educated, high-income and younger Nebraskans know more about AI.

80% of people ages 65 and up have heard little or nothing at all about AI. Alternatively, 36% of people ages 19-44 have heard or read little or nothing at all.

Statewide, 19% of residents said they have a great deal of control over whether AI is used in their life, 35% said they have some control and 45% said they have not a lot or none.

According to UNL’s Office of Research and Innovation, the statistics of Nebraska residents match those of residents across the United States.
