Accidental shooting near Scheels in south Lincoln under investigation
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A man accidentally shot himself in the leg around 1 p.m. today outside of Scheels in south Lincoln. The call to the Lincoln Police Department (LPD) came in at 1:09 p.m.
It is unclear whether the weapon was the victim’s or someone else’s.
LPD said the victim was taken to the hospital. There is no update on his condition.
As of now, it appears to be an accidental shooting.
The incident is still under investigation.
UPDATE July 28, 3:45 p.m.:
LPD confirmed the victim as a 21-year-old man. He had just bought a 9mm pistol with which he accidentally shot himself.
A tourniquet was applied and CPR was performed before he was taken to the hospital.
The victim is reported to be in critical but stable condition as he has surgery.
The investigation is still ongoing.
