Four teenagers suspected of forgery, shoplifting and obstructing officers
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — On Tuesday, July 28, Lincoln Police Department (LPD) responded to call at Target on N. 48th St. for a larceny.
Four teenagers reportedly stole iPads from a secure case and hid them in backpacks.
When LPD officers arrived on the scene around 8:30 p.m., the suspects ran and left the backpacks behind. The officers were able to catch up to two of the suspects. A third was taken into custody not long after. The fourth was turned in on Wednesday, July 29.
During the investigation, officers found 17 stolen iPads in the backpack, with a total value of more than $14,000.
Three of the teenagers also stole $3,200 worth of Nike clothing from Dick’s Sporting Goods around 8 p.m. that same night.
On Wednesday, July 29, LPD received a report of fraud from the day before. The same four teenagers involved in the other larcenies came to Hy-Vee around 8:10 p.m. They exchanged fake currency for $1,100 in real cash.
On Tuesday, Siidi Adan, 18, of Omaha was arrested and taken to the Lancaster County Jail for theft by shoplifting over $5,000, obstructing a peace officer, first-degree forgery and theft by shoplifting. Two Omaha teenagers, 16 and 17, were taken to the Youth Services Center and referred for the same citations.
After the report from Hy-Vee on Wednesday, all four teenagers were cited for first-degree forgery. Citations/referrals are pending for the fourth suspect, 17, who turned himself in.
