Gov. Jim Pillen orders flag at half-staff for Lincoln firefighter’s death
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Gov. Jim Pillen announced that flags need to be lowered to half-staff on Saturday. It is in honor of Nathan Matthews, a Lincoln firefighter who died last week.
Matthews died from injuries he received fighting a wildfire near the Colorado and Utah boarder in late June.
Matthews served with the U.S. Wildland Fire Service battling the Knowles fire.
He will be honored by both Colorado and Nebraska.
Flags should be flown at half-staff in Colorado on Friday. In Nebraska, they should be flown from sunrise to sunset at half-staff on Saturday.
