Former Lincoln orthopedic surgeon given highest civil penalty by law from sexual harassment allegations

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Steven Shannon, a former Lincoln orthopedic surgeon, has had disciplinary action taken against him after multiple sexual harassment allegations.

According to the Nebraska Attorney General’s Office, Shannon’s physician license is revoked for two years. Along with that, he has been ordered to pay a $20,000 civil penalty. The penalties come from a settlement with Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services.

If Shannon were to attempt to reinstate his license, he would need to pay the penalty in full and get approval by the Department of Health and Human Services and the Nebraska Board of Medicine and Surgery.
