Seward County Sheriff’s Office releases statistics regarding teen driver accidents

SEWARD, Neb. (KLKN) — The Seward County Sheriff’s Office released new statistics in the wake of back to school week. The times included in the facts are before and after school hours.

The statistics revolve around drivers between the ages of 14 and 20.

As of now in 2026, teen drivers between the hours of 6 and 9 a.m. were involved in two accidents in Seward County and 332 accidents in the State of Nebraska. In 2025, teens were involved in 10 accidents in Seward County and 1,004 in all of Nebraska.

As of now in 2026 and between the hours of 3 and 6 p.m., teens were involved in four accidents in Seward County and 623 accidents in Nebraska. Last year between the same hours, teen drivers were involved in 19 accidents in Seward County and 1,958 in the State of Nebraska.
