Lincoln Police have investigated 65 theft from car cases in the last two weeks

Lincoln Police are warning people to not leave purses, backpacks, and other valuables unattended in their vehicles after a series of smash-and-grab thefts this month.
Since March 17, police have investigated 65 reports of thefts from cars, with at least a dozen of the cases involving purses and bags, LPD spokeswoman Angela Sands said.
Victims of the thefts suffered a loss of approximately $7,500 in belongings and another $1,800 in damage to their vehicles, Sands said.
Vehicles continue to be targeted at fitness centers and trails. Earlier this month, at least five similar cases were reported at gyms in south Lincoln.
