Nebraska native Nick Townsend makes American Idol’s Top 40

Nebraskans can continue to root for one of their own on ABC’s American Idol. 

Nick Townsend, a native of Tekamah, advanced to the show’s top 40. 

Townsend, who now lives in Los Angeles, lost two brothers to suicide. He says it’s his mission to spread happiness, and has used his platform on the show to talk about dealing with depression, suicide, and perseverance.

Townsend’s next performance airs on Sunday at 7 p.m. Y
