Husker volleyball set for 2026 home debut, will host 3 matches over the weekend at newly renovated Devaney Center

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – After playing the first four – technically seven – away from home, No. 1 Nebraska volleyball makes its return to the Devaney Center Thursday through Saturday.

On Wednesday, head coach Dani Busboom Kelly, as well as Manaia Ogbechie and Olivia Mauch spoke to media at John Cook Arena to preview the weekend ahead, and recap the start of the season.

Big Red is set to face New Mexico Thursday, No. 20 Baylor Friday and Georgia Tech Saturday. The reason the Huskers have yet to host any matches is because the Devaney Center has been under renovation. It is now complete and ready to welcome back the nation’s top team for competition.

Ogbechie and Mauch both talked about the excitement of having a newly renovated facility, and they each said what their favorite upgrade is.

“The locker room,” Ogbechie said. “Such an amazing change these past couple weeks . . . We’re looking around at Devaney and all the new seats, the lighting and the speakers . . . this environment is going to be incredible. And I can’t wait.”

“We got message chairs in the locker room, so I’m going to have to go with the message chairs,” Mauch said.

Additionally, Busboom Kelly talked about how it is to once again be at home. Big Red’s head coach also spoke on the Wrigley Field experience, even though the match was suspended.
