Drugs, cash, and machete allegedly found in Beatrice bust

Two people were arrested following a narcotics investigation by the Gage County Sheriff’s Office and Beatrice Police.

The agencies executed a search warrant at 910 Grant St. in Beatrice around 6:30 p.m. Thursday.

Officers took Armando Lerma, 38, of Beatrice, and Cherish Lovell, 27, of Wymore, into custody.

GCSO said Lerma had more than $10,000 in suspected drug money, along with four baggies of marijuana weighing nearly a pound, a heat-sealing machine, a small amount of meth, a digital scale, five jars of suspected mushroom spores, and other items believed to be used to grow psilocybin mushrooms. Officials also reportedly found a machete, anabolic steroids, and a home surveillance system.

Lerma was booked on ten drug charges.

Lovell was taken into custody for an outstanding felony warrant from Lancaster County.
