‘We’re thankful’; Lincoln business Campbell’s Nurseries to close after 115 years

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Campbell’s Nurseries, a family-owned gardening and landscaping business, has announced its final season will be this coming up spring.

The company has remained open for 115 years, when the founder, Claude C. Campbell, began the business out of his Lincoln backyard.

Claude’s great-grandson, Andrew Campbell, said the decision was extremely tough.

“The legacy I’d love to have is that we tried to make Lincoln better,” Andrew said. “As much as I’d like to think that we could be around for hundreds of years, every business at some point has to make a decision that’s right for the owners, team and crew.”

The store is closing down due to the older generation of the Campbell family deciding it’s time to retire.

“There’s a lot of messages that can come from this but the biggest one is we’re thankful,” Andrew said.

Their final day of operations will be on July 2, 2027.
