Nebraska preps for ‘different set of challenges’ in Big Ten opener at Michigan State

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Ahead of Saturday’s Big Ten opener for Nebraska on the road at Michigan State, offensive coordinator Dana Holgorsen, defensive coordinator Rob Aurich and players spoke to media in their weekly Tuesday availability at the Hawks Championship Center.

The Huskers take a 3-0 record into conference play, while Michigan State holds a tally of 2-1. With that in mind, the Spartans have already seen a premier opponent in Notre Dame, a game in which MSU lost 27-10. In 2025, Nebraska defeated Michigan State 38-27 in Lincoln.

“They’re good defensively, I’ve known (first-year head coach Pat Fitzgerald) a long time,” Holgorsen said. “He’s a defensive guy, so you can see that he’s added . . . some stuff . . . not necessarily schematically, but . . . just with the physicality. With how they play compared to last year. The speed with what they play. The discipline with how they play. You know, it’s a whole different set of challenges for us.”

Nebraska faces the Spartans at 4 p.m. CT from East Lansing, Mich. The game will be broadcasted on Big Ten Network.
