Team Jack Foundation holds 14th annual Radiothon, raising money for pediatric brain cancer research

ELMWOOD, Neb. (KLKN) — From 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sept. 24, the Team Jack Foundation’s Radiothon is raising research funds and awareness for childhood brain cancer.

Kylie Dockter, the executive director of the Team Jack Foundation, said the Nebraska and Husker communities.

“Nebraska and Husker nation really made Team Jack what it was,” Dockter said. “It started with a little boy Jack Hoffman who was diagnosed with brain cancer. When they learned about treatment options, they realized they wanted to do more.”

The goal this year is to raise $200,000. Last year, they raised a record of $170,000 in donations.

The radiothon features radio stations from around Nebraska. The stations feature stories and interviews with families affected by childhood brain cancer.

“We’ve raised over $17.5 million for pediatric brain cancer research,” Dockter said. “One of our biggest commitments is right here in Nebraska at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. It’s a serious problem here. We have 20-plus stories from kids on the radio in Nebraska. I would encourage people to tune in, listen to the stories and consider making a donation because the funds do benefit kids right here in Nebraska.”
