Weather Headlines:

Showers will taper off by late morning, though scattered chances for rain will remain in the forecast for the majority of the day on Friday. Temperatures will struggle through most of the afternoon under mostly cloudy skies.

StormCast shows the chance for scattered showers throughout the rest of the day on Friday. Chances for showers and thunderstorms will increase late Friday and into Saturday morning, and some models place a few storms in southeast Nebraska on Saturday afternoon.

Some areas in southeast Nebraska may continue to see heavy rainfall through Sunday morning. Models estimate anywhere from an additional 0.5″ to 1.50″ of rain will be possible in southeast Nebraska.

Isolated showers and thunderstorms may affect those looking to catch the Husker game outdoors in Lincoln, though East Lansing should have pleasant weather. Kickoff between Nebraska and Michigan State is set for 4 p.m. CDT (5 p.m. EDT).

We are keeping an eye on the potential for severe weather throughout Saturday. A Marginal Risk (Level 1 out of 5) of severe weather is currently in place just to our south. Isolated severe storms are possible, with large hail and damaging winds as the main concerns in the strongest storms.

Forecast:

Temperatures will crawl to the middle 60s in eastern Nebraska under mostly cloudy skies. Highs will have a better chance of reaching the 70s to our west.

Overcast skies continue through the day on Friday in Lincoln. Highs this afternoon will creep up to the middle 60s by dinnertime.

Mostly cloudy skies will keep overnight low temperatures in the 50s and 60s across the state.

We will likely see additional rainfall through the afternoon hours in the Capital City. A few rumbles of thunder may bring an early wake-up call to some on Saturday morning.

While Saturday brings the chance for a few showers and storms, Sunday looks pleasant! Best to take care of any outdoor plans or chores then, ahead of another wet start to the work week.

This weekend features some of the warmest temperatures we will see through the next 10 days. Chances for showers and thunderstorms pick up starting late Monday and will continue through at least Thursday. Highs will be cooler than average through the start of October.
