North Dakota man arrested after pursuit through Lincoln

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Nebraska State Patrol (NSP) troopers arrested a North Dakota man after a pursuit through eastern Nebraska on Sept. 29.

Around 8:40 a.m., NSP was notified by the Milford Police Department that they were in a pursuit. The vehicle, a Toyota Camry, they were pursuing was believed to be connected to an active investigation of the Fargo Police Department in North Dakota.

The pursuit traveled onto Interstate 80 (I-80) where a trooper found and joined the pursuit as they headed eastbound toward Lincoln.

The NSP AirWing was launched and began tracking the pursuit. NSP troopers took over primary position as the Camry continued fleeing at speeds over 100 mph.

Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office deputies and additional troopers joined the pursuit as the suspect continued fleeing through the Lincoln area.

Near Waverly, a trooper attempted to deploy stop sticks. The suspect drove onto the shoulder towards the trooper.

Shortly after, troopers successfully deployed stop sticks. The vehicle exited I-80 at mile marker 426 and came to a stop. The suspect refused troopers’ commands to get out of the vehicle for several minutes.

According to NSP, just after 9:10 a.m., the suspect exited the vehicle and was taken into custody without further incident.

The driver, Brandon George, 42, of Wahpeton, North Dakota, was arrested and lodged on local charges including willful reckless driving, flight to avoid arrest, use of a deadly weapon to commit a felony, attempt of a Class 1 felony and terroristic threats.

NSP is working with Fargo Police Department on the ongoing investigation.
