Bat found in Nebraska home, injured wing after being struck with broom

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — The Nebraska Wildlife Rehab (NWR) revealed a recent scary encounter for a big brown bat.

The bat was in a house’s living room, causing fear from the resident. The bat was struck with a broom mid-flight.

The broom injured her wing, causing multiple tears and an open humeral fracture, according to NWR.

She underwent a surgical procedure to place a 0.028-inch pin into her wing to restore alignment.

NWR said the bat has received physical and therapeutic laser treatments as she recovers.

If a bat is found, they should not be swat at or attempted to be captured, according to NWR.
