Lincoln-Lancaster County Emergency Management preparing for potential flooding

Currently, there is no threat of flooding, but they are monitoring the situation.
“The potential for flooding has certainly increased, so that’s going to increase of our monitoring of the situation moving forward,” Jim Davidsaver, Emergency Management director, said.
With more than 55 inches of snow this season and two inches of rain expected within the next week, Emergency Management is gearing up.
“If we do suffer some damage due to flooding or another event we are as prepared as we can be to deal with those effectively and efficiently,” Davidsaver said.
Davidsaver encourages people to use the 72-hour plan. He said to have three days worth of food and water, and medication, if you take any. He also urges to have a shelter plan.
“Taking a few simple steps can really minimize the chance that you or a family member will be negatively impacted,” Davidsaver said.
Right now Davidsaver is working with the county engineer, city transportation and utilities unit as they monitor stream flows, erosion and other things along those lines.
Currently, there is no threat, but with rain the the 10-day forecast, emergency management is closely tracking the city.
