Lincoln North Star pep band supports basketball team

The Lincoln North Star boys basketball team hasn’t been in the state tournament since 2012.
The players, fans and of course, the pep band were pumped to be at Pinnacle Bank Arena.
“It was really exciting to be in the pep band today. Just seeing all the progress we made this season, it’s just really cool to come see it at the final result,” Jarod Wenger, junior at North Star, said.
The basketball team went 17-8 during the season, and the pep band has been with them through it all.
The pep band thinks they really keep the game going.
“I think it gets people really hype and it keep the motivation going especially the team and for the students,” Kaley Love, senior at North Star, said.
“If we weren’t there, it’s just kind of quiet and dead. I think we add a lot of energy to the games,” Kayla James, junior at North Star, said.
“I think if a team got down, without a pep band you would have no energy, and then obviously you might not get into the game after that in those close moments,” Wegner added.
With a season stretching back since November, state has been on their minds for a long time.
“It’s definitely been a long journey, so it was a lot of fun seeing us get here to this point,” James said.
Lincoln North Star will play Omaha South Friday night at 7:00 p.m in Lincoln.
