UPDATE: Snow removal district parking ban in effect for next three nights, residential parking ban ends Wednesday.

UPDATE: The residential parking ban ends at 8 a.m. Wednesday.

At that time, parking will be permitted on both sides of residential streets.

More than 40 City and contractor units continue to plow and de-ice streets citywide. 

Plowing of residential streets is complete and crews continue to work on service requests and clean up areas.

Four crews continue to clear snow from removal districts.  Please use off-street parking and be alert for trucks and other snow removal equipment.

Arterial streets range from dry to snow and ice packed with slick conditions.  Routes are being continuously staffed to deliver improved street conditions.  Drivers should be alert for slick spots and areas of refreeze, especially on hills.

City officials said Tuesday morning a snow removal district parking ban will be in effect for the next three nights.

The ban will be in effect from 12:01 a.m. to 8 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 27, Thursday, Feb. 28 and Friday, March 1 in the City’s eight snow removal districts.

In these areas, snow is plowed into windrows, loaded into trucks and hauled out of the area overnight.

To assist with snow removal, parking is prohibited on both sides of the streets in the districts.

Those include streets in Downtown and the Haymarket; University Place; Havelock; Bethany; College View; 11th and “G”; 17th and Washington; and 25th and Sumner.

Free overnight parking is offered at Center Park Garage, 1100 “N” St.

To reduce citations and towed vehicles downtown, the service will be offered from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m. when the City is under a snow removal district parking ban, though customers will be charged the posted rate for any time beyond those hours.

Vehicles that remain in the garage past 10 a.m. will be charged for the entire time the vehicle was in the facility.

Vehicles parked illegally during snow emergency and residential parking bans are subject to fines, towing and storage costs at the owners’ expense. 

Parked vehicles that block emergency vehicle access may be ticketed for obstructing a public street.
