Ice melt in high demand in Lincoln with snowy weather

With the recent snow Lincoln has had, Q.P. Ace Hardware stores said ice melt has been flying off their shelves.
“It was a significant amount going out,” manager Brent Applegate said. “I would say nine out of 10 customers throughout the weekend all bought salt.”
Lowe’s said they had a similar weekend, selling over 200 40lb. bags of ice melt. With the forecast for Lincoln predicting another 4-6 inches of snow between Tuesday and Wednesday — and even more snow for this weekend — salt will continue to be in high demand.
“When there’s even the threat of the storm coming, that’s when it starts flowing out of here,” Applegate said. “I mean, even today we’ve had so much of it go out the door.”
The Q.P. Ace Hardware stores said they’re well stocked on ice melt and have more shipments coming in.
But will that be enough? Applegate seems to think so.
“We’ll be 100 percent ready to go,” he said.
Lowe’s also said they’re well stocked and True Value said they have around 8 tons of salt between all their Lincoln locations.
Marketplace IGA in Air Park said they currently have around 100 10lb. bags of salt and will have more 20lb. bags by Wednesday.
All in all, Lincoln stores have the supplies Lincolnites need for the weather on the horizon.
