Cheetah and anteater habitat coming to the Lincoln Children’s Zoo

On Thursday, the Lincoln Children’s Zoo announced a $1.5 million anonymous gift.

This donation will move the Zoo past the original capital campaign goal of $18 million.

The unprecedented generosity of the community has inspired the Zoo to pursue additional firsthand experiences beyond the current expansion plans for giraffes, tigers and spider monkeys.

With the achieving the new goal of $24 million, it will empower the Zoo to become a larger tourism destination in the city, as well as a stronger community asset for all.

“We are humbled by the exceptional love for the children’s zoo and we are excited for what this means to the children and families of our community,”  said Zoo President John Chapo.

This gift will help the Zoo build a cheetah and anteater habitat, cheetah chase experience, a one-of-a-kind outdoor play area, year-round café and event green.
