Lincoln Police use Taser on man swinging ax at cars, garbage cans

Lincoln Police said officers used a Taser on a man who was reportedly drunk and agitated, and swinging an ax at parked cars and garbage cans.

Police responded to the area of 20th and A Street around 2:30 p.m. Saturday and saw the 22-year-old man holding an ax.

The man reportedly started walking towards an officer with the ax, and initially refused commands to drop the weapon before throwing it to the ground next to him.

Police said the man then pounded his chest and told officers to shoot him before walking back toward the ax.

At that time, an officer used a Taser on the man, police said.

The man was not injured and was placed in emergency protective custody.

Police said there was no damage to vehicles or property, and the man will not be cited.
