Employees of BNSF’s Havelock Shop concerned about futures as company restructures

BNSF Railway Company told Channel 8 Eyewitness News that is in the process of restructuring Lincoln’s Havelock Shop. 

“We’re working on a restructuring at Havelok,” BNSF spokesman Andy Williams said in a statement last week. “And are optimistic that it will be resolved favorably in the near future.” 

Since then, Channel 8 Eyewitness News has received tips from employees who say they are concerned about their futures. 

One employee, who spoke to Channel 8 News on the condition of anonymity, said their unions are being asked to ratify the restructuring proposal or positions could possibly be eliminated. 

Channel 8 Eyewitness News requested comment on the proposal from BNSF Friday, but did not immediately hear back. 

The railroad company has not confirmed that jobs could be eliminated.
