LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – If you are in need of a lawn mower this summer, you might have trouble getting your hands on certain models.

“A lot of our equipment that we sell has been affected by supply chain issues,” Ty’s Outdoor Power owner Ty Lisiecki said. “It’s causing a backlog and things are coming in really slow, getting back ordered weeks if not months.”

Things like tillers, lawn mowers, backpack blowers and chainsaws are just a few of the items in short supply. Lisiecki said prices for these items have increased nearly three percent.

During the pandemic, factories shut down. The owner said there are still people not working which is making it difficult to fill the supply chain. Companies like Honda cut down its mower supply. Ty’s Outdoor Power usually gets around 10 to 20 different models of walking mowers. This year, Honda is only making five models total.

COVID-19 has shattered the global supply chain. Semi conductors and roofing materials are also in short supply. Lisiecki said he has had other businesses in Lincoln reach out to him for products.

“We’re not letting go of much product to help other dealers out, because we don’t know what the next few months are going to be like.”

Lisiecki has been in the outdoor industry for 18 years, and has never seen it like this.

“New equipment sales, it’s going to be different this year,” the owner said. “We’ve got to strategize and work our best way around it.”
