Cause of death released for man who owned property where cockfighting ring was found

A man who owned a Louisville property where a cockfighting ring was discovered died of hypothermia, officials said.

The body of Marvin Vogler, 67, was found on December 4, 2018, in a field near his home.

That same property was the site of a cockfighting ring that was busted by officials, resulting in 32 arrests.

The Cass County Attorney’s Office said in a news release that an autopsy for Vogler lists his cause of death as hypothermia associated with combined hydrocodone, acetaminophen, and diphenhydramine toxicity.

An empty prescription bottle belonging to Vogler, as well as a cellphone believed to be his, were found near his body.

The release said there is currently no evidence that anyone else was involved with Vogler’s death, however the death is still being investigated by the Cass County Sheriff’s Office.
