Lincoln man pleads guilty in Cass County cockfighting case

A Lincoln man who authorities say was present when a cockfighting operation was busted up in Cass County has pleaded guilty to reduced charges.
Court documents show Francisco Barbosa-Almazan, 32, of Lincoln, pleaded guilty to obstructing a peace officer, instead of the original charge of being a witness to cockfighting.
On November 24, multiple law enforcement agencies responded to a tip regarding a cock fighting ring located at 11317 Highway 50, near Louisville.
A search of the property turned up nearly 200 live roosters, and nearly a dozen more that were dead, along with items used for cockfighting such as blades, strings and syringes.
In total, 32 people were arrested and transported to the Cass County jail for suspicion of participating, viewing, or promoting cockfighting, including Barbosa-Almazan.
