Gretna business owners plead guilty to fraud that led to nearly $5M in losses

The owners of a concrete business have pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit bank fraud.
Federal prosecutors say 59-year-old Sherri Atkins entered her plea Monday and 57-year-old Charles Martin entered his on Thursday.
They are scheduled to be sentenced on April 18.
Investigators determined that from 2010 to 2013, Martin and Atkins lied on financial statements and other records for Irock Concrete, which was situated in Gretna.
Prosecutors say Martin and Atkins provided the false information so they could obtain and maintain loans.
Prosecutors say two financial institutions suffered more than $4.9 million in losses.
