Man arrested with possible burglary tools was ‘getting donuts’

Lincoln Police arrested a man for possession of a controlled substance and possession of burglar’s tools after finding the items in his jacket and backpack early Tuesday morning.
Arren Lee Arnold was riding a bicycle near 10th and G Street around 2:40 a.m. when officers saw his bike didn’t have proper lights on it, according to a police report.
Officers stopped Arnold, who, according to the report, said he was out getting donuts, and discovered he had an arrest warrant.
During a search, officers found a glass pipe with white residue that tested positive for meth in his jacket pocket, as well as a head lamp, the report said.
Officers found a pair of 14-inch bolt cutters, a 10-inch crowbar, and a generic Ford key in his backpack, according to the report.
The items, along with the time and circumstances of his arrest, led officers to suspect Arnold was using them to commit crimes, the report said.
Officers said Arnold had a “significant history” of theft-related arrests.
Bond for Arnold was set at $5,000.
