Cookies sent to troops

First National Bank is sending more than 36,000 cookies to service men and women.

On Thursday, branches in Nebraska and Kansas packed 300 care packages.

Employees say it’s in the spirit of the holiday season, and they jumped at the chance to help.

“My husband was in the military and I sent many care packages overseas years ago and so it was really important to me to be able to be a part of this,” Kristi Schack, regional branch manager, said.

“My brother was in the military for 20 years, recently retired and was deployed multiple times, So, being able to send this to other individuals, I know how much he appreciated, just being able to have another troop appreciate what’s coming from home,” Julie McClary, personal banker, said.

Local kids also colored and wrote thank you notes to be included in the packages with Eileen’s Cookies and even some beef jerky.
