Two arrested after pursuit in Omaha

Two men were arrested after an early morning pursuit in Omaha. 

The Nebraska State Patrol said the incident began around 4:30 a.m. Thursday, when a trooper tried to stop a Volkswagen Jetta for speeding. 

NSP said the vehicle stopped, then took off before the trooper could contact the driver. 

The vehicle stopped near 108th and Pacific and two suspects got out and fled on foot.

Additional law enforcement was called in to help search the area, and the two suspects were arrested a short time later near 108th and Center. 

Officials found two firearms, ammo, marijuana and drug paraphernalia during a search of the suspects’ vehicle. 

The driver, Maleka Goodwin, 20, and passenger, Deonte Temple, 18, both of Omaha, were arrested for felony flight to avoid arrest, obstructing, possession of a weapon during the commission of a felony, and possession of marijuana – less than one ounce.

Both men were lodged in Douglas County Corrections.
