UPDATE: Lincoln Police officer cited for DUI in single-vehicle crash

A Lincoln Police officer has been cited for driving under the influence, department officials said Tuesday.

Matthew Brodd struck a pole on the northwest corner of N 45th and Vine Street on December 2, police said.

Police said Brodd, who was off duty at the time of the accident, had a BAC of .173, and was the only person in the vehicle at the time.

Brodd was cited Monday for DUI, not wearing a seatbelt and speeding.

Police officials say Brodd is recovering from injuries he sustained in the crash.

LPD will launch an internal investigation.
