LATEST: Dog killed in house fire near 50th and M Street

UPDATE: Lincoln Fire and Rescue says a dog was killed and a man transported to the hospital after a house fire Wednesday morning.
The home, located at 5101 M Street, suffered an estimated $70,000 in damage, fire inspectors say.
Investigators say the fire was caused by a lit candle.
Crews reported heavy smoke coming from the home at around 9 a.m., and confined the fire to the room it started in.
Search crews located a dead dog inside the home.
LFR says a man was transported to the hospital from the scene.
Officials have not released the extent of his injuries.
LFR spokeswoman Nancy Christ said there was not a smoke detector in or outside of the bedroom.
