SCC tests robot program for distant learning

Southeast Community College received a big grant.

It’s for a three-year pilot program for six robots at the college.  Students can go to class remotely or professors can  attend meetings they are out of town for.

“We’re always looking to give the student the best experience possible,” said Instructural Technology and Virtual Learning Director Chris Cummins.  “And if there is something out there that we haven’t tried yet as an institution, then we are looking to try new options all the time to see what would best suit our students.”

Cummins said students are wowed by the robot and that they wish the robots good luck on tests and talk to them in the hallways.

SCC is the first college to get a USDA grant for robots.
