Scott Middle School briefly placed in lockout mode

Scott Middle School was placed in lockout mode Monday morning, LPS officials said.

An LPS spokeswoman said that around 8:30 a.m., the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Department recommended the school go into lockout mode while deputies “handled a situation” in the neighborhood.

LPS says a lockout is used when there is a situation outside the building.

Staff make sure all students are inside the building, and teaching and learning activities continue as normal.

LSO lifted the lockout about 15 minutes later.
