Pius Senior honored at the football game

A very special moment before the Pius football game started.

“I’m ready for this,” said Hayden Higgins.

That’s Hayden Higgins in the wheelchair.

Tonight, he was an honorary captain for the team.

Hayden is a senior at Pius and the manager for the team.

He was diagnosed with muscular dystrophy when he was 7.

Tam Dworak, a Pius teacher had this to say, “He’s a big part of our school and we just wanted to raise awareness for this disease that he has. He’s just; he got a great personality, he’s a hard worker, he’s a smart kid, he’s very involved, he’s just a genuine friend to everybody, he’s a great great kid.

At halftime, Hayden was also crowned homecoming king.

You may have noticed, a lot of people were wearing lime green to raise awareness for muscular dystrophy.
