Teen accused of killing Lincoln man in March will be tried as an adult, judge rules

A judge ruled Thursday that a teenager accused in the shooting death of a Lincoln man in the College View neighborhood in March will be tried in adult court. 

Judge Lori Maret denied a request that the case of 17-year-old Natavian Morton, who is accused of fatally shooting Edgar Union Jr. on March 26th be transferred to juvenile court. 

Lincoln Police say the shooting occurred during a fight, possibly stemming from an incident at a school earlier in the day, and that Morton fired the shot that killed Union Jr. 

An attorney for Morton argued that the shooting was defensive, and occurred after someone drove a car through a crowd of people.
