Overnight shoplifting turned into a car accident

An attempted shoplift from a Lincoln convenience store ended in a car accident late last night.

Lincoln Police say around 9:45 Monday night, two men in their 20s were trying to steal Red Bull from a Kwik Shop at N. Cotner and Holdrege.

They got caught, but took off in their car.

A few blocks later, the suspects crashed into a light pole near N. Cotner and X Street.

The driver tried to hide from officers, but both he and the passenger were taken into custody.

Lincoln Police is still investigating.
