Jeff Raikes spoke to computer science majors at UNL

A famous Nebraskan was in town today.
He’s well known for his role in helping to develop software with Bill Gates.
Jeff Raikes is the CEO of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
The Ashland native was in town today to speak to an auditorium filled with computer science majors at UNL.
Raikes’ spoke about his life experience, some tough college years, how he met bill gates and what lessons he lives his life by.

"I learned so many great values growing up on the farm, work ethic, the importance for having a passion about what you do, the importance of honesty and integrity and a sense of community, those are the values I learned here in Nebraska and they have carried me throughout my career," said Jeff Raikes.

The Raikes foundation has distributed 97 million dollars in grants since its inception.
His appearance today helps mark the 10th anniversary of the Raikes school of computer science and management.
