LFR wins Battle of the Badges

Chief Despain was given the trophy on behalf of Lincoln Fire and Rescue. The Battle of the Badges raises blood donations.
It kicked off in July and ended today at the Pieloch Adoption Center. The losing team had to give a dog a bath so that was Police Chief Bliemeister’s job.
Fire Chief Despain says we can’t forget the real reason for doing this.
"A nice win for team red but again like the Chief said this is a win for the community, so that’s really the champion of the day but were going to gloat a little bit for today," said Despain.
The goal of Battle of the Badges was to bring the community, friends and family to save lives through blood donation.
By the way, Chief Bliemeister gave the bath to a 5 year old dog named Jack.
Jack is ready to be adopted at the Pieloch Adoption Center. He has been there since February.
LPD and LFR want to thank the Nebraska Community Bank and the Capitol Humane Society for putting together a community event that saves lives and finds Jack a new home.
