Thousands of students and faculty gathered at the Nebraska Union Friday for the official unveiling of the university’s new "In Our Grit, Our Glory" campaign. The campaign is designed to create a sense of unity among past, current, and future students about the accomplishments of Nebraska.
UNL spent nearly two years working on the campaign, and there was a lot of excitement with the launch.
"It’s a unifying brand message that allows us to very boldly and effectively tell the story of the University across the entire University. All of our nine academic colleges, all of our students, all of our alumni," said Chancellor Ronnie Green.
The University had been teasing the release by placing large "Grit" and "Glory" stickers around campus. They encouraged students to photograph themselves with the stickers and discussing it on social media.
"I think there’s a lot of excitement and a lot of approval for what the motto, ‘In Our Grit, Our Glory’ stands for. Being a Nebraska native myself I think there’s a lot of truth in the saying that Nebraskans work through trying times," said student body president Hunter Taylor.
Events celebrating the campaign will go through Friday with a special event for faculty and staff at 11:30 in Nebraska East Union and a rally for everyone on campus, including students, in East Campus All at noon.
