Lincoln man wins popular television survival show

A Lincoln man put his survival skills to the test on a popular TV show, and came out on top!

Sam Larson was on the History Channel show "Alone", a survival show where contestants spend months alone in the wilderness, using their natural resources to survive.

Sam was placed in the Mongolian wilderness on his winning season,  but this wasn’t his first time on the show.

He had been on the shows first season, but this time was better prepared both mentally and physically.

Hundreds of people gathered down in The Railyard to watch the season finale on Thursday night, and see Sam win.

The show actually ended nine and a half months ago, and Sam had to keep his winning a secret until the season finished airing.

At the end of the show, Sam’s wife surprised him and let him know he had won.

On top of redeeming himself in this season, he also took home $500,000.
